Question: I have an extremely disregulated nervous system. Help me, what can I do?
My Answer:
I’m experienced in healing trauma and regulating the nervous system so I can help. The first step is to connect with your body and breathe long deep breaths. Put your hand on your heart and take longer exhales on each breath even as you feel the panic and overwhelm…
Then admit the negative you feel. Just saying positive things or trying to convince yourself that you aren’t scared will never work.
See it as a repetitive one - two reframe.
Admit how you really feel. Say the things that scare you and know that you aren’t creating it by saying because it’s already creating.
So say I admit I really feel…. Because….
Say as much as needs to come out… And breathe and sigh throughout. You can rock your body or rub your hands over your body too if you want.
Then once you admit it you need to talk with yourself and this is where the positive thinking comes in but start small….
But even though I feel all this (and feel it even tho it’s scary) WHAT IF I’m safe in this actual moment?
What IF it’s ok to feel this way? even tho i don’t want to feel it this is the part of me that needs my love the most…
And you breathe and relax your heart towards it. You actually want the feeling to expand. You’re not releasing the feeling because the feeling is a part of you that has a belief and memories that make you feel fear.
So you have to embrace that part of you and allow it in your body. This means it will seem like it’s feeling worse as it’s moving through your body but only for a few moments. So use your breath, sound and courage
It’s about creating that relationship with yourself.
And the one two reframe means to go back to the next negative thing that comes up and repeat the process.
If you want me to help you with ideas on how to respond to your negative feel free to type it here and I can help you with what to say.
There’s a lot that can be done, just know it is a long term practice like learning a new language.. But you can get relief pretty quickly. It will just come back over time. It’s your body and soul needing you to show up for yourself by embracing it and helping it feel safe.
I of course also recommend to lean into the higher power and ask for Divine support too.
I’ve been helping people with this for a decade and a half now and have healed myself from PTSD, chronic anxiety and chronic illness. It really is my passion so as I said I’m happy answer any more questions if you like xo
